WGRC Workshop on the implementation of "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013" on Sept 4, 2015

Women’s Grievance Redressal Committee (WGRC) organized workshop on the implementation of the “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013” on September 4, 2015 in the Virtual Class Room, Toshali Plaza. The objective of the program was to educate our faculty, staff, officers and students regarding the provision of the Act.  The program was inaugurated by the Prof. S. Tripathy , Hon’ble Deputy Director, Dr. D. Gunasekaran, Registrar, Prof. S. Roy, Dean, Faculty and Prof. V. R. Pedireddi, Dean, Continuing Education graced the occasion as chief guests. The Chairperson, WGRC welcomed everyone and the chief guests appreciated the efforts made by WGRC and welcomed Prof. Aggarwal. Several members of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and WGRC
 
      The program was conducted by Prof. L.R. Aggarwal, who has several laurels to his credit, including Retd. Director, Dept. of Finance, Government of India, Founder, Dr. Aggarwal Law Foundation and Ex-Vice Chancellor, Maharishi University Lucknow. He was assisted by Mr. Vivek Kumar, his associate trainer.
 
    The program was divided into 2 sessions. The first session, that was held in the morning, was for faculty, staff and officers. About 30 participants attended the session. Dr. Aggarwal explained the Historical Developments, Legislative Journey, Main features of  The Act, Case Laws on the Subject Surveys & Literature, Complaint Mechanism Process, ICC-Composition–Powers & Functions, Duties and Responsibilities of Employer Rights of Aggrieved Women with regards  “ Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013”. He also discussed the salient features of the provisions of  POCSO Act. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Chairperson, WGRC.
 
   Unfortunately, the second session, to be held in the afternoon, which was primarily for students was cancelled due to some unforeseen circumstances. The participants put forth their queries to the expert and he addressed them in an excellent fashion. WGRC plans to conduct similar workshops in the near future and mainly for the students.
